1.5% Avobenzone and 8% OCMC with and without the addition of 1% Kansol. The results clearly show that the UV filters were stabi- lized when 1% of the natural UV filter was added. Additionally results showed that the protection grade of UV-A of the products increased respectively from PA+ to PA++ and from PA- to PA+. Thus the natural filter based on the seeds of a tree from the pea family is a photostable UV-A sunscreen, it increases the PA of for- mulations and stabilizes Avobenzone for a better skin protection. Fast free radical protection Free radicals by their short reaction time and powerful oxidative stress break down molecules like DNA, collagen, etc. or oxidize lipids (structural or barrier lipids). Effective free radical protection requires both strong antioxidant activity and short reaction time. Oxikan is a purified extract of rosemary (rosmarinus officinalis), with 99.5% purity. The Antioxidative Power (AP) has been deter- mined by following the reducing activity of a stable test radical (DPPH) by ESR spectroscopy – the decrease in test radical spin with time is tracked for different concentrations. The study was per- formed by Gematria2 . The results show that the purified extract of rosemary is a very powerful, stable free radical scavenger with an extremely short reaction time. A different rosemary extract was tested for its ability to stimu- late collagen and inhibit MMPs. Collagen synthesis by fibroblasts in culture was increased at concentrations >0.5mg/ml. Natural anti-ageing approach One can develop a natural and effective approach to anti-ageing protection by combining three natural extracts: Kansol for UV-A stabilization as well as increased protection, Oxikan for efficient and fast free-radical protection, Rosemary extract for stimulation of collagen synthesis and inhibition of elastase and hyaluronidase. 1 Lutz D. and Miksa S.
