They were enhanced by a brand new Sensory Bar which pro- vided visitors with the means to test innovative textures and sensations. David Tyrell, global skin care ana- lyst from Mintel, spoke about trends that will influence the future of beauty. Mintel’s research has shown that consumers are interested in connectivity, with 48% of UK con- sumers interested in an app to track changes in their skin or moles. Augmented Human is the trend that will evolve from this and there are already products on the market de- signed to collect data from skin and the surroundings, such as BIA Skin Analysis. The future will be likely to feature 3D photos and close-ups of skin and hair so consumers can track the performance of products. Gastronomia goes beyond an inter- est in natural ingredients as consum- ers become more involved in the creation of beauty products. Mintel’s data confirms that 48% of Italian and Spanish consumers buy natural and organic personal care products because they believe they are better for their health. MKS in China and PNC International in South Korea have developed hydrogel mask ma- chines for home use; these blend fruit and vegetable juices, natural thickeners, creams and serums to create a personalised face mask.
