50 COSSMA 7-8I2013 SERVICES Trend statement Natural cosmetics of the future Dominique Pradines, head of development at Laboratoires B.L.C. Thalgo Cosmetic, sets out his views on the future trends that will impact on the facial care market Plus: +++ Interesting active complexes for various facial care needs +++ What new products are on the way for the autumn? +++ Tubes – elegant packaging for powerful actives +++ PREVIEW September 2013 Product development COSSMA 9/2013 is published on September 4th , 2013 We respond sensibly to the demands of the population and the environ- ment. We accept a social responsibil- ity, do business in a fair and ecologi- cally-friendly way, and we wish to ensure that our company is as trust- worthy and upright as our products – 100 percent transparent and 100 per- cent natural. A major trend in natural cosmetics is the development of glamourous products that are just as effective with regard to their quality and efficacy as conventional cosmet- ics. It has become an accepted fact that established skin care products are now offered in the market as certified nat- ural cosmetics, too, for example using active ingredients such as hyaluronic acid or highly effective biologically ob- tained plant oils such as broccoli seed oil. At the same time these products have to be developed using modern formulation techniques, and must have scientifically proven efficacy. Especially where the natural product is certified as such the consumer often asks, in a searching way, about the ori- gin of the ingredients and how they are acquired. Labels such as NaTrue or BDIH can provide an answer. Our own latest new developments include, for example, the Sante Lash Extension and the Sante Dental Vitamin B12 medicinal toothpaste which helps balance the necessary vitamin B12 in the diets of vegetarian and vegans. The demands being placed on the natural cosmetics sector in future will include constantly increasing requirements at a legal level. This is a challenge for the plant-based ingredi- ents in particular as due to their complex structures it is dif- ficult to grasp them from the toxicological and allergenic points of view. www.logocos.de Heinz-Jürgen Weiland, R&D Director, Logocos A major trend are glamorous products that are just as effective as conventional ones photo:Logocosphoto:AnnaSubbotina,Shutterstock.com New approaches to facial care Focus: Facial care COS1307-8_50_Vorschau_GB_COS1105_10_Anti_Aging_GB 26.07.13 11:41 Seite 50
