RELIPIDIUM™ restores balance to the skin’s microflora. RELIPIDIUM™ is a
modified yeast extract that
boosts lipid metabolism and strengthens
the natural skin barrier
. RELIPIDIUM™ stimulates the production of
sphingolipids, ceramides and cholesterol sulphate. A volunteer trial con-
firmed a moisturizing effect and strengthening of the skin barrier (TEWL
measurement).
RELIPIDIUM™ is able to balance out the ratio of pathogenic germs. It
does so by activating the TLR-2 and dectin-1a receptors in the skin. The-
se keratinocyte receptors recognize foreign organisms and activate the
immune system. RELIPIDIUM™ increases the production of TLR-2 and
dectin-1a.
A second volunteer study showed that RELIPIDIUM™ restores the ba-
lance between Staphylococcus epidermidis and Staphylococcus aure-
us. Dry skin is characterized by an elevated population of S. aureus.
RELIPIDIUM™ rebalances the skin microflora.

As we age, our skin and the dermoepidermal junction (DEJ) become
thinner, and our skin density declines. The skin gradually loses its firm-
ness and dries out. What is needed is a multifunctional care solution.
With the development of OLIGOLIN™, our partner BASF in cooperation
with the University of Reims has succeeded in translating the benefi-
cial properties of
linseed
, known for so long already in traditional and
Ayurvedic medicine, to skin.
OLIGOLIN™ is a hydrolyzed extract of linseed that contains a high con-
centration of
oligosaccharides
. OLIGOLIN™ restructures the epider-
mis, the dermoepidermal junction and the dermis, making it a truly
multifunctional active. The
thickness of the epidermis
is significantly
increased, and the formation of
involucrin and filaggrin
stimulated.
By improving type IV collagen formation, the dermoepidermal zone
is restructured. Regeneration of the dermis is achieved by improving
fibroblast proliferation and migration. Stimulation of
collagen-I, col-
lagen-II and GAG synthesis
and
lumican expression
has been de-
monstrated in vitro. Enzymes that attack the basic dermal substance
are inhibited, for example hyaluronidase and heparanase.
The oligosaccharides from OLIGOLIN™ positively influence the tissue
structure of the skin, and counteract the natural aging process. The
epidermis thickens, the tonicity of the DEJ strengthens and the dermis
becomes denser.
A placebo-controlled trial was conducted in which 26 volunteers with
dry skin applied 1% OLIGOLIN™ over a period of 28 days. An 11%
increase in skin moisture was observed (see Fig. 4).

the forearms (Corneometer measurement)
In another study with 22 volunteers (aged between 53 and 65 years), an
improvement in skin elasticity was observed after 28 days (see Fig. 5).
