In addition, this petrolatum alternative protects the cutaneous barrier and helps reduce trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL). Plantasens VL has a very similar senso- ry profile compared to lanolin. Its long term moisturizing profile (5 days) is as good as lanolin at 5% in formulation. It also helps to reduce TEWL as much as lanolin. Olive Squalane Squalane is known to be produced mainly from 2 different sources – shark liver oil and the unsaponifiable frac- tion of olive oil.
