34 COSSMA 3I2015 PRODUCTION PACKAGING NEWS NEWS Packaging Tubes: Special print process and increased sustainability Linhardt I HD-Print is a high resolution print process developed by Linhardt. Based on the water-less print process it is relatively easy to print plastic tubes in brilliant photo-realistic colours. If this process is combined with screen printing it is even possible to save labels. The system can operate at 80 lines per cm, and accepts frequency modulated screens. Even small screens of less than 2% can be printed and colour variation is very low. In addition the system can operate in combination with PCR material. Metflex is a sustainable laminate tube (Multiflex) with a metal look and where up to 40% of the material and weight is saved in comparison with a conventional tube. The tube, which is easily recyclable with a high performance in terms of emptying, can be decorated with matt and gloss options using different material strengths. Return strengths are comparable with PBL tubes. www.linhardt.com photos:Linhardt Self-heating tube Cosmogen I The new patented Self-Heating Tube en- hances the efficiency and comfort of cosmetic formulations while they are applied. The concept is a tube within a tube. The inner tube is filled with a safe sodium acetate solution and then hermetically sealed. The solution will turn into crystals and then generate heat. The supersaturated solu- tion of sodium acetate and crystals of sodium acetate are safe, non-toxic and environmental friendly. The outer tube is filled with the product. Once the seal has been broken the tube starts warming. The temperature of the formulation will be a maximum of 20 degrees above room temperature. The highest temperature lasts 90 seconds. Then the tem- perature smoothly drops and remains 20 degrees above room temperature for up to 7 minutes. The highest tempera- ture remains below 60 degrees. There is no risk of the tube bursting. The Self-Heating Tube is suitable for facial formu- lations like masks, body oil and eye anti-wrinkle treatments. It adds an extra soothing experience to your end product. www.cosmogen.fr The key feature of the self-heating tube is a tube within a tube photo:Cosmogen Dropper for formulations with cosmetic pearls Quadpack I Cosmetic pearls are the secret behind the French contract manufacturer Capsum who specialise in encapsulation part- nered with Quadpack to devise a delivery system that complemented the high-tech nature of the anti-ageing product Hypnotic Serum con- taining cosmetic pearls. Each crystalline pearl in the Hypnotic Serum harbours a complex mix of beneficial oils. The pearls are held in a 25ml bottle, topped by a cap containing a liquid serum in a sealed compartment. Twisting the shoulder automatically breaks the seal. In a single gesture the bottle fills with liquid, dissolving the outer shell of the pearls. With a shake these are then transformed into a richly smooth, delicate serum, ready to be applied using the pipette dropper. Both the SAN bottle and the cap are transparent, keeping the pearls visible and allowing the transfor- mation to be seen. A silver metallised collar gives the finishing touch to this state-of-the-art packaging solution. www.quadpack.com Mixing the pearls with a liquid and shaking them transforms them into a serum Sustainable laminate tube saves up to 40% material weight High resolution for photo-realistic print How to activate the self-heating process The security strip is torn off and the cap is screwed on. After 2 minutes the temperature of the contents will in- crease by 20°C. Once the reaction has been triggered, the temperature increases from 30°C to over 50°C in 3 minutes. The water temperature remains at around 50°C for 7 minutes when the room temperature is 28 degrees. photo:Quadpack COS1503_34_Ingred_News_GB_COS1105_10_Anti_Aging_GB 24.02.15 14:35 Seite 34 COS1503_34_Ingred_News_GB_COS1105_10_Anti_Aging_GB 24.02.1514:35 Seite 34
